U18 Girls get season off to a winning start

Last Saturday, Killarney RFC’s U18 girls side made the trip to Cobh to play the combined Cobh/Dolphin team, in their first game of the Munster league. Played in blustery conditions against a strong side,  it was clear from the beginning the Kerry girls meant business.

Within 2 minutes, the outstanding Killarney, number 8 Ava O’Malley scored the first try of the day and the first of her four tries Fia Whelan added the conversion. Next up to score for Killarney was Niamh Dorrian which  was converted by her twin sister Bronagh. The speedster Marina Eagar was next up to score an outstanding try and the first of her two try’s on the day which was converted by Whelan.

Cobh/Dolphin then scored a try, and Killarney had the perfect response when Ali O Donoghue got in on the scoring act after some very good play by the hard working Katie O’Donogue. Two of the Killarney girls celebrated birthdays on the day notably Keelan O Leary and Lilly Morris. Morris got the final try of the game which got the loudest cheer of the day when the birthday girl dotted down in the final play of the day.
