U18s win on the road

 

U18.5 boys recorded an excellent win away against Tralee in their second pre-season warm up game. With more players returning from their holidays and other sporting commitments, they ran out convincing winners.

The early stage were tightly contested and although Killarney had greater territory and possession, they failed to break through aided by good Tralee defence allied to some long raking kicks which toook advantage of the breeze to make us come the long way.

Killarney opened the scoring when GearΓ³id Sugrue won the race to a grubber kick through an touched down under the posts.Β  GearΓ³id converted his own score to put us 7-0 ahead. Β  We quicklyΒ  increased the lead with a try from Bryan Walsh who found a gap in midfield and raced away from cover.Β  Try wasn’t converted.Β  Killarney got a third try when out-half Sugrue found a gap around the ruck on the 22 to dash to the goal line.

With a successful conversion the lads led 19-0 at half time.

Killarney got the first try of the second half when David Courtney scored off the back of a rolling maul.Β  Tralee finally got on the scoreboard with a try to reduce the deficit to 24-5, but Killarney hiy back with tries from Mark Kennelly from deep and from Alex Sheahan who scored from a good passing move that stretched the Tralee defence.

A second try from Mark Kennelly and a third from GearΓ³id Sugrue rounded off the scoring
