On a glorious sunny afternoon in Shannon, our U16 girls team took on Shannon RFC in the Munster Plate Quarter-Final. Playing downhill in the first half, we started strong and built a commanding lead before a tense second half tested our defensive resolve.
The second half saw a shift in momentum as Shannon RFC came out fighting. They scored an early try to reduce the deficit. The remainder of the game became a defensive battle and our girls showed immense determination, holding the try line firm despite wave after wave of Shannon attacks. Several crucial tackles and hold-ups kept our opponents from adding to their tally, until a few minutes from time with the pressure on, they went over the line near the posts and converted too. This was quickly followed by the final whistle, and we had done enough to secure a hard-fought victory.
A fantastic first-half display and a resilient defensive effort in the second half mean we now move on to the Munster Plate Semi-Final! Well done to all the players for their skill, effort, and teamwork, to the coaches and manager and to all the travelling supporters who made the journey up!
