In a display of grit, skill, and perhaps a little bit of “away-day magic,” our U16 boys marched into Bruff RFC territory and emerged with a hard-fought victory in the Munster Plate Group 2.
The Bruff faithful were welcoming, but our lads weren’t there for the scenery—they were there for the points. Here is how the drama unfolded:
The Scoring Summary
The scoreboard was kept ticking by a trio of standout performances
The Xavier X-Factor: In what can only be described as a poetic finish, Xavier sliced through the Bruff line to dot down, proving that class is permanent regardless of what hemisphere you’re in.
The Tomlinson Tornado: Shane Tomlinson tore through the defense like a man who heard there was a limited-edition post-match snack waiting for him.
The Moynihan Masterclass: Gearoid Moynihan wasn’t content with just crossing the white line for a try of his own; he decided to turn the game into a personal kicking clinic.
The Xavier X-Factor: In what can only be described as a poetic finish, Xavier sliced through the Bruff line to dot down, proving that class is permanent regardless of what hemisphere you’re in
The Golden Boot: A massive shout-out to Gearoid Moynihan, who went 3-for-3 on conversions. Rumor has it the ball was afraid to miss the uprights.
A Special Presentation 👕
The highlight of the day, however, happened off the scoresheet. After the final whistle, Coach and Club Chairman Ger Moynihan stepped forward for a special presentation.
Xavier was presented with a club jersey as a token of appreciation from everyone at the club. While he might be heading off on his travels, he leaves behind a legacy of great rugby and even better sportsmanship.
Final Thoughts
A huge well done to the entire squad. Winning away in the Munster Plate is never easy, but the boys showed the heart of lions (and the kicking accuracy of snipers).
Next up: Training on Tuesday. Bring your boots, your gumshields, and some more big energy.
