Recap
Our U16 girls team took the road again last Sunday, taking the long journey across the country to Waterford to play Waterpark RFC. With a squad of 19 girls, on the back of a victory against Clonakilty in the previous league game, spirits were high as was the confidence of the players going in to the game. Conditions were good, both weather and pitch, and a strong starting 15 took to the field and received the kick off. An early domination in the forwards play set up a good platform for our first score out wide. This was quickly followed by 2 more tries with 1 being converted. Our newer girls to the team on the bench got some valuable minutes of playing time early in the game towards the end of the first half and all of them contributing and performing really well. Good rotation of players throughout the game, and some players changing roles and positions during the course of the game was a real positive for the team. Half time saw us 22-0 up, with 2 tries from Nessa, and 1 each from Orla and Harriet (with one converted by Isabelle), but credit to Waterpark in the 2nd half who fought back, and got back into the game making it difficult for us to play our game and scoring their own try from some good teamwork and individual play from their 9. Another great individual try and conversion from Isabelle again closed out the game to finish out 29-5.
Thanks go to the girls and coaches of Waterpark RFC for a great game and their hospitality afterwards, and a really special mention to our supporters again who came in great numbers to cheer on our girls.
