K.I.L.K 20 – 15 Clonakilty RFC

Clonakilty struck first with an early try to take a 5–0 lead, before K.I.L.K hit back with a well-struck penalty in front of the posts by Eliza (5–3). The home side grew into the game, and it was the forwards who made the breakthrough as Eibhlín powered over to edge K.I.L.K ahead 8–5. Clon responded with their second try just before the interval, sending them into the break 10–8 ahead.

The second half delivered more ferocious exchanges, and again it was the K.I.L.K pack who provided the spark. Danielle crashed over for a vital try, after some great pick and go phases in the forwards, with Eliza adding the conversion to reclaim the lead at 15–10. Moments later, the backs joined the scoring as Keelin finished superbly out wide after the backs showed quick sets of hands to stretch the advantage to 20–10. Clonakilty refused to fade and grabbed a late try to close the gap to 20–15, setting up a tense final few minutes, but K.I.L.K’s discipline and defensive grit saw them home.

With this victory, K.I.L.K remain unbeaten in five games and secure top spot in Conference 3, and looking forward to finding out their opponents in the quarter-finals, bringing confidence and momentum. Thanks to the travelling players and coaches for a tremendous display of rugby in a hard fought battle, to the referee Noel, and to all our supporters on the day, cheering on our girls.
